This half-term, we have been developing our bat and ball skills. We started by controlling the ball on the floor with the bat and now we can control it on top of our bats.
This term, we have been learning about how to stay safe on the internet in our E-Safety topic. We have created pictures and actions to remind us to “stop, minimise and report” if something strange happens online.
In Year 1, we have been practising balances with a partner. We have to work together to make sure we can hold our balance.
In maths, Year 1 have been partitioning two-digit numbers. We had to build the numbers by making towers of ten and leaving the single blocks to represent the ones. This was a very tricky lesson but we can now partition two-digit numbers in a range of different ways!
In maths, we have been using our water tray to learn about capacity. We could say whether a container was more or less than a litre. We liked when the container was less than a litre because it would overflow and we would get splashed!
In Year 1, we have been preparing for our Bee-Bot sports day. We have been putting instructions into our Bee-Bot to get it to its target. Sometimes, they even have obstacles which makes it really tricky.
In Year 1, we have been learning about time. We can now make different times on our clocks and recognise the time in our classroom. We even have a cool dance routine to remember where the big hand needs to point to for o’clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to!
This term, we have been practising our partner skills in outdoor PE. We continued to improve our throwing and catching skills to another person by stepping forward to throw the ball. Year 1 are a great team!
This term, we have been designing our own weather cupcakes. We have been practising all the skills we need to bake the most delicious cupcake. Our favourite part is checking the taste of our cupcakes!
This half-term, we have been learning about the Victorians and their seaside holidays. We have now started a project in our computing lessons to create our own Victorian seaside holiday photo-story. Our costumes made us look just like the Victorians but now we need to edit the colour of our photographs to make them look like they were taken a long time ago.
